Bookstore Manager Position Opening Soon

Vanessa and BookstoreAfter five years of devoted service and making our bookstore what some have described as "the most beautiful store I've seen in any meditation center" Vanessa feels the need to reenter the world to further her education. We will miss her vibrant presence "on the land," but she will continue to be part of the extended mandala. This creates a unique and exciting opportunity to take on the management of the Tara Mandala Bookstore. The store offers a wide range of products, including books, clothing, ritual items, herbal and body care products, and recorded teachings to customers onsite as well as online. A highly creative and independent position, the bookstore manager oversees all aspects of this retail business: creating a diverse inventory, developing relationships with customers and vendors, establishing an attractive aesthetic environment onsite and online, and maintaining a financial overview of the business.

The new bookstore manager will be building on an already well-established business, and will have the opportunity to bring his/her own vision and talent to the position. We are looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial individual with experience in business/retail, basic financial tracking, and customer relations; preferably, a knowledge of Buddhist literature and ritual items; and a heart connection to Tara Mandala’s lineage and practices. Experience with online retail environments is a plus.

To apply, please send a resume and letter of interest to Cady Holtkamp, cady@taramandala.org.

Kitchen and General Volunteers Needed for Retreat August 23-31

We are looking for people who can volunteer during our upcoming retreat August 23-31 with Lama Tsultrim and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. We need one more person who can work in the kitchen as well as one or two general volunteers who can help with all-around retreat needs. Work is generally divided into two 3-hour sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our day begins with community meditation practice outside; you may also choose to attend evening practice sessions. This is a wonderful opportunity to offer service at a critical time, be part of a practice community, and spend time on Tara Mandala’s spacious land. If you are interested please contact Charlotte at charlotte@taramandala.org or Devon at devon@taramandala.org.
