She will demonstrate the partner work and answer questions about the process. The afternoon will be devoted to a transmission of the Prajña Paramita meditation practice. Ritual Arts Teacher to Visit Tara Mandala Tara Mandala will be hosting the most highly trained Western Chöpen, Ana Paula Gouveia from Khadro Ling, the Chadud Gompa in Brazil, from April 14 - 28. A Chöpen is the person who moves between the shrine and the Lama during empowerments and in Drubchens and is trained in all the ritual arts. Chöpen is considered an extremely important job and requires awareness and precision. Ana Paula was the lead Chöpen at the recent consecration of the Zangdu Palri Palace, an amazing three dimensional mandala building constructed by the Chagdud Rinpoche Sangha in Brazil at Khadro Ling and consecrated with Dzogsar Khyentse as the Vajra Master. She will be coming to Tara Mandala to teach shrine setup (both personal and temple) and the chöpen activities such as torma making in preparation for our Drubchen in August. Ana Paula was described by one of the high Tibetan Lamas as "better than some of the best Tibetan Chöpens." She will offer teachings on various aspects of “chöpening” including torma making, butter circle making and shrine keeping. If you would like to be involved in the more in depth Chöpen training that will be happening at Tara Mandala contact info@taramandala.org. To be a good Chöpen, one should have precision in mind and body, an awareness of subtle energies even during a crowded ritual event, be good with hand work, have a high level of interest and excitement, have a background in Vajrayana ritual and practice, and be willing to take instruction and be willing to work long hours. |
Upcoming Free Teleteachings with Lama Tsultrim Tara Mandala continues to offer teleteachings with Lama Tsultrim as a way for our global Sangha to connect and feel closer between retreats. This is a very low-tech process to which anyone with a phone can listen. You may also listen to it on Skype, if you’d like. You might consider inviting others to join you to listen and hosting a discussion after the hour of Teleteachings. Some Sanghas plan their meetings around the Teleteachings and together develop questions in advance. Next Teleteaching: Sunday, April 12, 2009 (Easter Sunday) |
