Job Summary

The Website & Online Program Tech Support is responsible for the overall maintenance, updates, and support for the Tara Mandala website. In addition to our website, this position also offers Technical Support for our Online Programs and eCommerce platforms. Finally, this position oversees our Salesforce CRM Data Management.

Overall Duties and Areas of Oversight

  • Updates, setup, support for all eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Woocommerce, Retreat Guru)
  • Website Maintenance and Updates/Support – new pages, edits to pages, new banners, etc. (WordPress website)
  • Works with Registrar to update new year’s calendar of retreats and programs on main website
  • Maintains Teachers and Staff pages, and updates photos and text as needed
  • Use markup languages like HTML and CSS to create, maintain, and improve user-friendly web pages
  • Salesforce Data Management – importing and exporting for marketing, fundraising, and maintaining database’s integrity and use in organization
  • Website Backend administrative support and coordination with Web Designer as needed.
  • Assist in technical  support of Online Courses, uploading program content, managing customer accounts, providing tech support on online programs and webcasts
  • Support marketing team with website functions, uploading new content and making edits, and removals as needed
  • Managing all requests through Website Update Tracker forms
  • Site troubleshooting across all platforms
  • Manage software integrations through Zapier
  • Test websites across browsers, operating systems and devices, identifying and efficiently resolving issues, debugging pages and fixing broken links or images
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend technology and software with TM team members

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

(if different than duties with specific requirements)

  • Backend administrative support
  • Respond to website update tracker requests in timely manner
  • Assist in technical support of Online Courses, uploading program content, managing customer accounts, provide access to gated content
  • Site maintenance/troubleshooting
  • Monitor Site security
  • Update Terms and Conditions and Privacy notifications as needed, and Cookies 
  • Customer Tech support (i.e., sustaining sangha members, donors, online program customers, Satellite Sangha members, teachers, etc.)
  • Answer emails and phone messages
  • Test websites across browsers, operating systems and devices, identifying and efficiently resolving issues, debugging pages and fixing broken links or images
  • Launch new content on website for Tara Mandala programs

Required Education, Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written) and good communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of all relevant coding languages (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript)
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Extremely well organized and an exceptional eye for detail
  • Website tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager)
  • Familiar with Shopify/Woocommerce eCommerce platforms
  • Salesforce experience
  • Experience developing WordPress sites and web administration
  • Familiarity with web standards and how to load 3rd party content, images, and scripts asynchronously
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities, experience detecting and evaluating issues, devising appropriate solutions within constraints, and executing on those solutions

Compensation, Benefits, and Other Job Requirements

  • This is a part-time, off-site contractor position or an onsite employee part-time position depending on the individual’s interest in living and working at a Buddhist Retreat Center
  • Attendance at one 5-day retreat per year after first year
  • Free access to all Tara Mandala online programs
  • On-site positions include room and board, based on housing availability
