The First Cycle

The Cycle for Accomplishing the Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal from the Ösel Nyingtig

This cycle for accomplishing the Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal was first revealed in Tibet at Yeshe Tsogyal’s birthplace in 2007.  At that time Yeshe Tsogyal actually revealed her face to A.dzom Rinpoche. Due to the necessities of these times, the exceptional Dakini Ngöndro from A.dzom Rinpoche’s Ösel Nyingtig terma cycle was revealed at the behest of Lama Tsultrim Allione and was transcribed with the help of Tulku Ösel Dorje at Tara Mandala.

The Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal cycle begins with Dakini Ngöndro (Foundational Practices) and focuses on the enlightened Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal. It is open to everyone. However there is a Samaya commitment to do this practice daily for a year. After receiving the Dakini Ngöndro teachings, practitioners will have the opportunity to have an interview and enter the Ösel Nyingtig Cycle. Applications for this cycle will begin in October 2020 and interviews will be scheduled soon thereafter.

In the Dakini Ngöndro known as ‘The Excellent Path of Great Bliss’ unlike most Ngöndros, the preliminary practices are not accomplished by counting repetitions and they are permeated with the profound Dzogchen view from the very beginning.

This unique lineage centers around the enlightened feminine. In Guru Yoga part of the practice we will encounter Yeshe Tsogyal along with other female wisdom emanations including Samanatabhadrī, the feminine aspect of the Primordial Buddha and the embodiment of the Ground of Being, Prajñapārāmita the embodiment of wisdom, Vajra Vārāhī the fierce Dakini, Machig Labdrön founder of the Chöd lineage, and Green Tārā the embodiment of compassion in action.

The teachings found within this lineage will express the ultimate significance of what is meant by Dakini and are genuinely quite extraordinary. The Ngöndro is followed a year later by the Yeshe Tsogyal Sadhana also to be practiced daily for a year.

Should the causes and auspicious interdependent conditions come together, more of this cycle could be revealed and more instructions may come forth in the future. We are practicing a living stream that is still in the process of being revealed by the great terton A.dzom Rinpoche.

Prerequisites

According to A.dzom Rinpoche’s instructions this path is being made accessible to everyone who feels a connection to this profound lineage. The teachings found within this practice are considered advanced because they carry the direct blessings of the Dakini’s enlightened mind that can directly reveal one’s own naked awareness.

Practice Requirements

The emphasis in this lineage is meditation practice; therefore, the only commitment that comes with this Ngöndro practice is to commit to practice the Dakini Ngöndro every day for a year, without missing a day.  In the event that one does not have sufficient time to complete a full practice session, reading the text is sufficient for maintaining the commitment. Normally it might take about 1 1/2 hours to complete. In this practice, one’s progress is not evaluated on the basis of accumulating hundreds of thousands of recitations, but rather on one’s meditative experiences and the time one invests through maintaining the continuity of one’s practice.

For those who have maintained this commitment for the first year, the special practice for Accomplishing the White Tsogyal will be given and practiced for a year.  Also, after these two years, for those who complete the practice requirements and keep the Samaya commitment, there will be an opportunity in the second year to receive the Tröma’s Chöd practice from the Ösel Nyingtig known as “The Self-liberation of Ego Clinging.”

It is recommended Ösel Nyingtig participants complete our Three Yanas retreats in the first three years of Ösel Nyingtig. These retreats give a rich and necessary historical and practice framework for your path. The first two retreats are going to be offered online in 2020:

Practice Support

There will be scheduled group teaching and practice sessions throughout the year, as well as Q+A sessions. Those who enter these cycles will have access to a members-only website portal with important supplementary material. In addition, there will be regularly scheduled group support sessions facilitated by an authorized Kalyanamitra, or Spiritual Friend. One-on-one support may be provided as needed, via email or video phone calls.

The Second Cycle

The Exceedingly Secret Troma: The Perfection of Secret Primordial Wisdom Cycle from the Ösel Nyingtig

In the winter of 2002, during a Chöd retreat in the canvas yurt at Tara Mandala before there were any buildings, in the midst of many auspicious signs, A.dzom Rinpoche began to reveal the exalted Practice for Accomplishing Tröma known as ‘Secret Primordial Wisdom’.

This was the first of several Ösel Nyingtig termas to be revealed at Tara Mandala under extraordinary circumstances by A.dzom Paylo Rinpoche.  Since then the cycle has been practiced in secret by those who received it.

After eighteen years of secrecy, A.dzom Rinpoche has asked Lama Tsultrim Allione and her son, Tulku Ösel Dorje, to begin to share this extremely profound cycle in the West.

So, in the future, those with the prerequisites will begin the journey together into this profound path for accomplishing secret primordial wisdom. This extraordinary Tröma revelation offers a complete and succinct path to liberation.

Inspiring confidence in this extraordinary cycle on Tröma Nagmo, Guru Rinpoche states in “The Special Instructions on the Exceedingly Secret Tröma” that: “Even if you were to actually meet me, Padma Sambhava (Guru Rinpoche), you would not receive a greater instruction than this.”

This cycle on Tröma Nagmo contains the Tröma Empowerment first followed by the ‘Practice for Accomplishing Tröma,’ which includes the Feast Gathering of Tröma — the Primordial Wisdom Sphere that was first taught in early 2002-2003 at Tara Mandala.  What has never been taught openly until now are ‘The Special Instructions on the Exceedingly Secret Tröma’ known as the perfection of Secret Primordial Wisdom and Tröma’s Practice of Severance (Chöd) known as The Self-liberation of Ego Cling. Together these practices offer a complete path for accomplishing secret primordial wisdom based on the enlightened wrathful black Dakini Tröma Nagmo.

Duration

The Secret Primordial Wisdom program will span five years:

  • In the First Year, according to A.dzom Rinpoche’s wishes, Lama Tsultrim will offer the participants the recently revealed Tröma Empowerment (Tib. wang), the oral transmission (Tib. lung), and the explanation (Tib. tri) for the practice of Tröma and the Primordial Wisdom Sphere Feast Offering (Tsog).
  • In the Second Year, for those who have maintained the daily practice requirement of the first year, we will begin The Special Instruction on the Exceedingly Secret Tröma known as ‘The Perfection of Secret Primordial Wisdom’.
  • The bulk of the practice instructions in this cycle are found in this text. This practice contains a series of Dzogchen practices that focus on the black wrathful wisdom Dakini Tröma Nagmo in the Dharmakāya form.
  • This extraordinary text concludes with a set of five instructions known as The Instantaneous Method for Purifying Deluded Awareness and Appearances that will be given over a period of time as one’s practice develops.
  • These teachings will be given over the subsequent four years to those who meet the requirements. These instructions culminate in the highest Dzogchen practices of Tregchö (Cutting Through) and Tögal (Leap Over).
  • During the second year, students will also have the opportunity to receive Tröma’s practice of Chöd, the supreme form of generosity known as ‘The Self-liberation of Ego Clinging.’ However, in the case of this Chöd practice, it will be open not only to those within the Ösel Nyingtig lineage, but also to other students who have experience in the practice of Chöd or have completed another Ngöndro.

Prerequisites

For the Tröma cycle you must first fill out this application. And have an interview with Lama Tsultrim or Tulku Ösel Dorje. Once accepted by these teachers into the program, you can register for the retreat.

This cycle of Ösel Nyingtig Tröma Nagmo is open to those who have completed at least one full traditional Ngöndro in any lineage or have completed the one year requirements for the Ösel Nyingtig Dakini Ngöndro (one year of daily practice as described above) and the one year of Ösel Nyingtig Yeshe Tsogyal Sadhana (one year of daily practice as described above).

A special exception will be made for those students of A.dzom Rinpoche who were present during the revelation of this Tröma terma at Tara Mandala on a case by case basis. The teachings found within this cycle are permeated with the secret Dzogchen teachings and are considered extremely esoteric and advanced.

Practice Requirements

The emphasis in this lineage is meditation practice; therefore, the only commitment that comes with the Tröma Cycle is to commit to practicing the sadhana for a year, without missing a day. In the event that one does not have sufficient time to complete a full practice session of approximately of 1 ½ hours a day, reading the text is sufficient for maintaining the Samaya commitment. In this practice, like in the Yeshe Tsogyal practices one’s progress is not evaluated on the basis of accumulating hundreds of thousands of recitations, but rather on one’s meditative experiences and the time one invests through maintaining the continuity of one’s practice.
