Tara Mandala Annual Fund 2018

Special Message from Dorje Lopön Charlotte and Lopön Pieter

Dearest Friends and Noble Sangha,

As we approach the close of another year, it’s a fitting time for a sacred pause – to reflect, to set aspirations for the year ahead, and to extend our deepest thanks for your role in Tara Mandala’s unfolding legacy.

It’s such an important time for the Dharma in the West.

On the shoulders of pioneering early lamas of the 1960s, who fled Tibet to preserve our spiritual heritage, a new generation of teachers are integrating the timeless lessons of the Dharma into daily life. We are fortunate at Tara Mandala to have such a spiritual leader in Lama Tsultrim.

While working at Naropa University in the late 1990s, we first became acquainted with Lama Tsultrim as she visited to teach. Over time, we came to know one another and discovered a common teacher in Dzogchen master Chogyal Namkhai Norbu. We also found we held a shared hope for a spiritual community that was an authentic and accessible vessel for practice and practitioners – of all backgrounds and life circumstances. We moved to Tara Mandala as co-directors in 2004 and have grown into roles as Board President and Authorized Teachers. Tara Mandala has been central to our lives and the lives of our children for many years now.

Tara Mandala is today a vibrant spiritual community…and it’s because of you.

With your participation and generous support, Lama’s teachings anchored in the empowered feminine are now rising in a world eager for a new equilibrium – one that seamlessly blends intention, compassion, and skillful means. The result is that Tara Mandala has become a global organization.

From our sacred land in Pagosa Springs, a dynamic movement has spread dedicated to activating the Dharma as a guiding light for our world. In service to this mission, as senior teachers and as life partners, we are committed to offering innovative programs here in Colorado, around the world, and in virtual spaces that connect with a diverse and growing global sangha. Simultaneously, we believe we must act with intention to sustain the capacity to offer deep, restorative retreats.

Our tradition honors the notion of giving as practice.

The land, temple, and spiritual ecosystem in which Tara Mandala exists are infused with the gifts, prayers, and aspirations of our community – thousands of individuals moved by conscience and experience offer “dana” to support the flourishing of the teachings. Having witnessed Lama Tsultrim’s vision made manifest over more than two decades, as we approach Tara Mandala’s 25th anniversary in 2019, we invite you to make a special year-end gift to support all that comes next. Annual Fund 2018: Special message from Lama Tsultrim

We founded Tara Mandala 25 years ago with the vision of establishing a place of retreat, refuge, teaching, and spiritual growth anchored in Vajrayana Buddhism and a tradition of the empowered feminine. Across more than two and a half decades, we have seen that vision flourish on the land and in a growing global community that embodies a deep connection to the teachings of our lineage and a shared aspiration to foster… Read more

Annual Fund 2018: Special message from Dorje Lopön Chandra

I first came to Tara Mandala two decades ago as a student of Lama Tsultrim, acting upon a calling to bring forth the voice of the sacred feminine in Buddhist theory and practice. Lama’s early and sustained leadership in the Buddhist #MeToo movement has likewise resonated deeply with me. I have had the good fortune to study with many Tibetan and Western Buddhist teachers. In Tara Mandala, however, I found a spiritual home, so much that several months ago, my family and I moved to Durango, so that I might serve as Tara Mandala Assistant Spiritual Director… Read more
