Chokhor Düchen commemorates Shakyamuni Buddha’s First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma at Sarnath. For seven weeks after his enlightenment, the Buddha did not teach, but on this day it is said that Indra gave the Buddha a dharmachakra (wheel) and a conch shell and requested him to teach. Accepting this request, the Buddha taught the Four Noble Truths.

Join the Tara Mandala Global Sangha at 11:00 am Mountain Daylight Time for a sangha-wide practice honoring this sacred day in Tibetan Buddhism. Our practice for this auspicious day will include guided contemplation on the Four Noble Truths. This virtual global practice is open to all, and if this practice is new to you, you are welcome to join and receive the blessings of this practice.

If you would like to sponsor or dedicate a butterlamp for this auspicious occasion, please see this page for more information.

There is no registration required. This special livestream event can be viewed on the Lama Tsultrim Allione Facebook page, the Tara Mandala Facebook page or the Tara Mandala YouTube channel.
