On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, the great and beloved master of Chöd, lineage holder of the Pacification of Suffering Tradition (Tib. Zhije), Venerable Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche entered into parinirvana.

Tara Mandala has the extraordinary honor to host the traditional cremation ceremony for Rinpoche on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 7:00 am Mountain Standard Time. Tulku Jigme Wangdrak Rinpoche (Vajra Master) and Tulku Thadral Rinpoche will be the presiding Lamas for the ceremony accompanied by other esteemed Lamas, Khenpos, and Lopöns.

How to Support this Event: 

• There is no charge for attending the cremation ceremony. If you would like to make an offering to Venerable Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche’s family and ongoing legacy, you may do so HERE
• You can also make an offering to Tara Mandala to help cover the costs of the ceremony HERE, when you register, or at Tara Mandala.
• If you would like to sponsor a butterlamp, you may do so HERE.
• If you would like to sponsor flowers, you may do so HERE.
• If you are interested in volunteering during the day of the ceremony, please use the “Additional Information” box in the registration form or email Registrar@taramandala.org to notify the Registrar that you would like to volunteer. 

Tara Mandala will share this ceremony via livestream. Please only use this registration form if you are attending in person.

Important Details:

• The outdoor cremation ceremony will start in the early morning at 7:00 am (Mountain Standard Time). It is expected to last approximately 4 to 5 hours.  
• Please take into consideration that cold weather/winter conditions are possible and dress appropriately as this ceremony will be entirely outdoors.
• Please bring a Khata (white scarf).
• Please bring something comfortable to sit on to view the cremation.
• There will be winter weather conditions at this time of the year at Tara Mandala. An all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle is required.
• After the ceremony, Tara Mandala will offer a catered, vegetarian lunch to all attendees. 
• All Tara Mandala housing will be occupied by Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche’s family, those assisting, and visiting Lamas. Day visitors seeking accommodations in Pagosa Springs, Colorado can find a list of nearby lodging HERE. 
• If you are bringing minors (12 and younger), please use the “Additional Information” box in the registration to list the number of children that will be accompanying you. All other participants need to register individually.
