Facing the Fear of Death Through Feeding Your Demons

with Lopön Robin Gayle

with Lopön Robin Gayle

Everyone will eventually face their own mortality. Our relationship with death evolves throughout life, from childhood to old age, whether we are confronting our own mortality, accompanying a loved one through a life-limiting illness, or gradually awakening to the realities of aging and frailty. Speaking openly about our vulnerabilities and fears with others who share our human experience can ease the fear of death and lessen our sense of isolation.

Within the moment-to-moment samsara of this lifetime, we have countless opportunities to practice resting in both the small and great deaths that occur continually. By meeting uncertainty and unease with awareness, we can cultivate greater authenticity, self-understanding, and compassion. Feeding Your Demons offers one such practice, inviting us to face our fears, step into uncertainty, and emerge with greater integration and resilience.

Workshop Overview

Join Lopön Robin Gayle, PhD, MFT, psychotherapist, as she explores the many ways we encounter and understand death across the lifespan, the opportunities for growth that arise from facing our fear of mortality, and the value of engaging in open dialogue about these experiences. The session will conclude with a guided Feeding Your Demons meditation.

Together We’ll Explore:

  • How our relationship with death evolves across the lifespan, and how speaking openly about vulnerability and fear with others can ease its grip and lessen isolation.
  • How to recognize and rest in the small and great deaths that occur continually within daily life.
  • How meeting uncertainty and unease with awareness cultivates authenticity, self-understanding, and compassion.
  • The Feeding Your Demons process as a practice for facing fear and emerging with greater integration and resilience.

What is Feeding Your Demons?

Feeding Your Demons is a guided process that helps us transform difficult emotions and inner conflicts by turning toward them, rather than pushing them away.

Rooted in an ancient Tibetan practice and adapted for modern life by Lama Tsultrim Allione, it offers a practical and accessible way to work with challenges such as anxiety, fear, self-criticism, and more.

Through a simple 5-step process, what we habitually experience as obstacles can become sources of insight, strength, and inner support.
