Aging and illness are universal human experiences, part of being in a physical body. But their experience can often be challenging, triggering resistance, fear, or denial. Whether we are struggling with pain, limitations, uncertainty, or simply change, a multitude of emotions might arise.
Feeding Your Demons offers a direct approach for working with the experience of aging or illness with self-compassion. As a mind-body modality, we can work with our physical discomfort or with emotions that arise as we age or confront illness. The Feeding Your Demons process gently invites us to explore what these parts of us need, and in so doing we are able to connect with wisdom that enables us to approach our situation with calm and resilience.
In this session, Chögé Lisa Erickson will first discuss the challenges of aging and illness as we often experience them. She will then guide participants through the Feeding Your Demons process, allowing them to directly engage with their own challenges.
Together, we will explore:
- A new way of relating to aging and illness
- The principles of the 5-step Feeding Your Demons process
- How Feeding Your Demons can be applied to the challenges of aging and illness, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual
This session is open to all. No prior experience is needed.
What is Feeding Your Demons?
Feeding Your Demons is a guided process that helps us transform difficult emotions and inner conflicts by turning toward them, rather than pushing them away.
Rooted in an ancient Tibetan practice and adapted for modern life by Lama Tsultrim Allione, it offers a practical and accessible way to work with challenges such as anxiety, fear, self-criticism, and more.
Through a simple 5-step process, what we habitually experience as obstacles can become sources of insight, strength, and inner support.
